Miami Mediator and Arbitrator

Scott J. Silverman is a former Miami Circuit Court Judge who works as a mediator and arbitrator exclusively with JAMS, the largest provider of mediation and arbitration services worldwide. He retired from active judicial service in 2012 after serving honorably as both a circuit and county court judge in South Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit for nearly 22 years. While on the bench, he distinguished himself as one of Miami’s highest rated circuit court judges according to the Dade County Bar poll.

Since retiring from the bench, Scott J. Silverman has continued to distinguish himself as one of Miami’s premiere mediators and arbitrators. For three years running, the Daily Business Review rated him the Best Alternative Dispute Mediation Individual in its “Best of 2013,” "Best of 2014," and "Best of 2015" surveys.

Further, the distinguished London-based ratings firm of Chambers and Partners listed just 20 mediators, including Silverman, in its inaugural 2016 USA Guide. Chambers wrote:

Well-known mediator and former judge Scott Silverman has a broad-ranging practice in alternative dispute resolution, offering particular experience in commercial, employment and construction matters. "He has a very good business sense," say sources, "and as a result is able to come up with creative solutions that people normally don't think about. He is very good at identifying intangibles that people can use in negotiations and mediation." He is a member of JAMS and is based in Florida.

Scott J. Silverman is also a successful arbitrator. He has presided over numerous international maritime and commercial arbitrations as well as domestic arbitrations administered by JAMS, the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). Juridical seats of his past international arbitrations have included such countries as the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, Colombia, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Peru, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The 2016 Chambers and Partners USA Guide also recognized Silverman for his work as an international arbitrator and identified him as a "noted" and "recognized" practitioner. The 2016 USA Guide rated just 30 international arbitrators in the United States.
